Walks for the Carrshield Camping Barn

Skye Strolls are delighted to be able to publish a series of walks and hikes for the relatively new camping barn situated in very rural Carrshield within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The location of this Camping Barn is relatively unique in that it offers beautiful walking countryside of the Northern Pennines from the doors step and is surrounded by some amazing industrial heritage.  The building itself dates to the 19th Century when it would have been the focal point of the mining in this part of the valley.

Northumberland advertises itself as being the last English wilderness, the walks from Carrshield Camping Barn certainly fit into this category. They can be bleak and desolate walking, but on clear days offer some spectacular views across 50 miles of Northumberland to The Cheviot. Whilst in almost the opposite direction it is possible to spot the northern summits of Skiddaw and Blencathra in The Lake District. The upland moors are also a very special place as they are the breeding grounds for some endangered birds such as Curlew, Golden Plover and Twite.

The walks are freely available for download on their website CarrshieldCampingBarn.co.uk, through their Facebook Page Carrshield Camping Barn, as well as through Skye Strolls Ltd Facebook Page and as with all our walks on the outdoor adventure website and app ViewRanger.com.

We hope you have as much enjoyment with these walks as we did in creating them ready for you.
